A LITTLE ABOUT PAINTBALL..

Paintball is derived from USA. It's an amusing strategic military game. Special pressurized gas or air based guns called markers are used to shoot food colour filled and gelatin coated balls. All players wear protective masks/goggles and camouflage clothing. Before the game starts an instructor gives everyone a briefing about the security. The instructor also acts as a field judge when necessary.

Paintball does not set any restrictions to players. Body weight is not a problem and there are many female players as well. Equal opponents can be 15 and 55 year old. There is no need to be experienced to play paintball. Marker handling is easy and everyone knows how to run and crawl.

Paintball is not about running around the forest with the marker in hand. There are three most common types of plays:

• Amateur paintball
• Sports paintball
• Training paintball

Amateur paintball is the most wide-spread. The game is played in some abandoned warehouse or in the woods. The players are not professionals and they don't play paintball constantly. Game scenario is determined at the beginning of each battle. The battle may have time limit for example 15 or 25 minutes or it may last as long as the final player is "alive". The player who gets shot rises his/her arm and walks away from the playing field.

In sports paintball certain restrict rules are applied. The battles are fought on a little bounded field filled with inflatable figures. The battle is much shorter. Players´ equipment is more expensive and more accurate.

For training purposes paintball is often used by military personnel, security guards and police forces.

Different strategies

Capture the flag

Players are divided into two equal teams. Both teams have their own flag to defend and home base where the game starts. The goal is to bring the opposite team´s flag to their own base at the same time defending their own flag from being stolen.

Conquer the base

Players are divided into two equal teams. Both teams have their own flag to defend and home base where the game starts. The goal is to carry their own flag to the enemy´s base. When the flag is there, the base is conquered.

Shoot to kill

No teams. Everyone is enemy. Last survivor is the winner.

Center flag

Players are divided into equal teams. Every team starts off to their own base. There is only one flag in the middle and exactly the same distance from every base. The team which brings the flag to their base is the winner.

Those are only a few possible game strategies. There are many more different scenarios.
